BATC Lighting Assignment

Like I said last time in class, I HATE driving! (maybe I should consider another career...) So this is just outside our front door. I use the term, our, very loosely. Technically, it's my in law's front door. I am shooting north-east, I figure it's better to be somewhat prepenticular to the path of the sun, right?

7:50 AM Av MWB ISO 800 50mm f/2.8 ss 1/40

1:00 PM Manual AWB ISO 200 50mm f/11 ss 1/250

4:00 PM Manual AWB ISO 200 50mm f/11 ss 1/200

6:30 PM Manual AWB ISO 800 50mm f/5.6 ss 1/10

Out of all 4 times, I like the early morning the best, nice soft light, but the SS was slow, and I didn't have a tripod so I had to shoot wide open. I had to boost the ISO for both morning and night shots. I hate the 4 pm shot, there is that ugly big shawdow I had to crop out. I think if I had taken the late afternoon shot 30 minutes earlier, it would be a lot better. I shoudn't have left it on AWB, it looks so cool. I only adjusted a little on element but kept it blue for the experiment. This was a fun experiment! There is so much to think about for just one shot!

BATC FIELD TRIP

Here are photos from our fun field trip to Willow Park, and this is where I discovered that I like photographing people more than still life....

I wonder if anyone else will be posting the drinking fountain shot.... but it's one of the best from the night, good focus, good exposure... just bad subject lol

Sue and Leslie, if you want me to take the picture down I will, but I thought it was a good moment!

The next 2 are of the same trees, just different composition, I think I like the first one better

This is why I like taking pictures of kids better... yes they are harder to work with but it is worth it!

BATC Week 2

My daughter and I have this love/hate relationship as photographer and model. We both can be divas at times and rarely agree on anything! She has been modeling for me for about 2 years. I've learned that treats work really well and keep the sessions short and sweet. For this session, I tried masking her badly cut bangs in the hood, but it only worked for a few shots. Then I just let her do whatever she wanted. Luckily she didn't do her favorite turn-to-the-side-shoulder-raised-up-touching-the-chin-cheesy-grin pose.

All shot on ISO 400 50mm f2.8 Av mode, WB: cloudy
